After a month of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007 writing project, I noticed the following qualities on the popular blogs:
  • Genuine connection
Bloggers who share their experiences or knowledge in a way where readers can relate (and reflect on what they've done too) establishes a stronger bond and even loyalty among readers. The "being human" context of the blog matters a lot.

  • Being active counts
Those who are active in mingling with other bloggers, events, or in joining blog portal communities, where content gets syndicated regularly, has high visibility and therefore recall. I guess knowing the face and person behind the blog matters.

  • Reach out
Being active also means reaching out. The new ones takes time and effort to make a connection with other bloggers. I take note of the blogs that got cited and did not hesitate in joining the writing project to do the same to fellow bloggers.

  • Segmentation
Although there were a few, but very rare, would you see established bloggers taking time out to mingle or recognize the new ones. As time goes by, it will be interesting to see those who will bond and emerge as a new influential segment in the blogging community. There are now signs as to who they are. Whether they will remain newbie at heart, or not, time will tell.
We still have 7 weeks to go in this writing project. I hope those who joined (and the blogs you've mentioned) in the past 4 weeks have gained something, whether new blogs to read or online friends, as well. Cheers!

When i started blogging (Nov. 20, 2006), I didn't know it would turn out to what it is now nor did I envisioned it to be such! I only had 3 posts in 2006 - shows how interested I was in blogging! :) But come Feb 2007, something happened. I suddenly wanted to blog! I guess the blogbug got into me, and thank the heavens for that!

Blogging continuously enriches my life with newfound knowledge and friendships - day after day after day! Yes, the awards, ranks, certifications, ratifications, milestones, etc. have been fun and exciting! But what is even more rewarding are the friendships that I have been blessed with through this medium.

And through blogging, may we come to realize that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. :)
